Congratulations
to the 3 Quins players selected for Wales Womens six nations squad 2008:
Hayley Baxter, Rachel Taylor and Awen Thomas.
Best
wishes for a speedy recovery to Amber Penrith, who suffered knee
ligament damage in the recent match against UWIC. Amber suffered from
even more bad luck as she had also been selected to play for England
against Wales in the international match next week. All at Cardiff HSOB

Cardiff
Quins got the season off to a great start, coming runners up in the WWRU
National 10s tournament at Llandaff North on the 10th
September.
In
the pool stages, Quins came top with victories over Waunarlwydd and
Llandaff North. The Quins
then overturned Birchgrove 29-0 in the semi-finals to set up a final
date with UWIC.
With
Stuart Kibble officiating, the two Cardiff sides took to the field.
Rachel Poolman put UWIC on the score-board first, with fellow Welsh
international, Philippa Tuttiett, adding an extra 2 points. Quins’
Hayley Baxter showed her electric pace just moments later, intercepting
the ball on her own 10m line and leaving the UWIC defence standing.
UWIC
added a further four tries through Aimee Young, Rachel Poolman and Amy
Day (2), with Quins managing seven points in reply through a Bianca
Modeste try and Jilly Holroyd’s resulting conversion. With
a final score of 27-12, UWIC proved too strong for the Quins team, who
due to injury finished the game with only eight players.
Fantastic
debuts for the club were made by Bianca Modeste, Becky Newton and Hayley
Baxter and the team look forward to their first league game this Sunday
(24th September) at Blaenau Gwent.
